“Education is activism and vice-versa.”This has been my driving, self-coined statement throughout my career in environmental outreach and, moving further into education, I see no need to abandon it. Thinking back, I struggle to recall a time when I was not inspired by the natural world. Growing up camping and backpacking in the Sierra, spending summers snorkeling with the garibaldi in La Jolla, keeping aquariums my entire life - each aspect had its own profound impact on my worldview. In pursuing my goals as an educator, I seek to bring students visceral experiences that challenge and intrigue them.
